Quiet Afternoons

I love the afternoon sun in this apartment. I also love the morning sun, and the midday sun.

You may notice a new fixture in our apartment. That’s right, a new member to our family, Timber. Nathaniel and I found him abandoned the weekend before last. We had taken an impromptu drive to the site where he proposed, which is in the middle of Mt Hood National Forest. Driving down the remote dirt road at dusk we saw two eyes beaming back at us. Poor kitty came right up to us and fell asleep in my arms just as soon as I held him wrapped in a blanket. As there are no homes in that area, we tracked down the nearest campers to make sure he didn’t belong to one of them. Of course, he didn’t. For the next few days we tried to track down any owners, to no avail. So we decided to adopt him. He is such a sweet cat; I’ve heard that abandoned animals form a strong bond with their rescuers. It’s been about a week and a half now, and next week he’s got an appointment at the vet to get (ahem) castrated. He still is a bit on edge, but is slowly settling in and we are so happy to have him!
