Adventure Maps
I created styles and the process to create adventure maps for various types of human-powered activities – hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, kayaking, etc. The range of maps is truly vast – some covering a short one-mile hike near a city, others covering a multi-day long-distance trek through wilderness. The map styles are optimized for printing and are designed to guide adventurers on their journey, as well as help them plan camping or lodging near their chosen adventure. Creating the maps involves research and comparison of resources, as well as coordination with an on-the-ground contributor. Roughly 50 icons were created to complement the existing Outdoor Project icon library. Additionally, some adventure race course maps were created to support special events. Together with the team I oversaw, we have created nearly 1,500 maps over the course of four years.
